Our perspective on adding Pinot to our Italian fair can be summed up with “when in Rome”. Northern California has some of the world’s most sought after Pinot Noir vineyards, and one of those is Signal Ridge. Sitting at 2,642 feet elevation atop Cold Spring Mountain in the Mendocino Ridge AVA, this organic vineyard overlooks the picturesque Anderson Valley. It is the highest elevation vineyard in Mendocino, Sonoma, and Napa counties with diverse soils that produce unique and exotic flavors.
Flavors of bright Bing cherry, pomegranate, clove, cinnamon bark, fennel and a cooler climate shady pine forest feel transport you to the view of the Pacific high up under the Redwood forests. It’s as magical of a wine as the vineyard generously offers in the fruits. The balance of acidity, fruit and complexity of flavors keeps us unable to keep from enjoying all that this incredible Pinot noir offers. Drink this wine today, or hold for 8-10 years.
About Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is one of the most enduring grapes in the world and has been around since before the Roman times. Famously planted in Burgundy France, and now all over the world, Pinot Noir is a very delicate grape that can be difficult to ripen, requiring specific cooler climates and high standards of care. The northern California coast provides the perfect conditions, however, as the Pacific ocean and fog provide ample cooling and the consistent warm sun provides an opportunity to pick at exactly the right time.
